Our world has changed and it’s amazing how much we were able to adapt to the reality. It’s amazing how much we have moved in terms of values and norms regardless of the change. But Alas! We are still very much in the middle of a pandemic and it’s a call for us all to CALM DOWN! The world will heal up and humanity shall prevail. Patience is Virtue
Dear Rotaractors and Friends,
I welcome you to the month of August, the second month of the fresh Rotary year and a month dedicated for membership. Its a known fact that membership is the heart beat of any organization and Rotaract District 9110 believes so much in this known fact and truly we have drawn strength over the years through selfless service and passion displayed by all you Rotaractors. This year, our approach will take a new turn of having a District Membership Seminar while maintaining the established standards of Zonal and Area approach. All hands must be on deck to achieve this goal.
I can never be more proud as a DRR having you all display high level of professionalism and ethical discipline through club activities and projects so far this Rotary year. It has renewed my strength as your servant leader and it has awaken my spirit to lead aright and have a good Rotary year together regardless of pandemic. Grace shall be sufficient for us and I am positive of more impact filled Rotaract Activities and Projects as we progress.
Our First Project together this year has shown in reality that there is greater strength in partnership. It was a good time to support our environment in several ways and I salute all clubs that further took bold steps in supporting our Ecosystem through tree planting and other projects geared towards making our world a better place to live. UBUNTU was a story but has become our reality today as Clubs and inturn as a Rotaract District. With dedication and hardwork, a formidable District 9110 is archievable.
Rotaract is now a membership type of Rotary International, may I remind you that we all signed up to grow Rotary, but lately we got caught up in the numbers game and lose sight of the bigger picture. Do know that increase in membership is meaningless if next year, those new members we add to our circle leave or can’t be accounted for. Our attention should be more concentrated on existing members and to do all necessary to retain more than we add. Retention will project our strength for more impact through members experience and Club Presidents should do all possible to celebrate Rotary through their members.
25th July was anticipated for BLUEWINE 2020 but God is surely inevitable. HE alone is constant. However, delay is never denial and this has paved way to renewal of strength and a chance to evaluate already made plans to tighten all loosed ends. October 10th is upon us and all things being equal we all shall have a good District installation experience. I appeal that you recommit to plans and anticipate a good timeout.
Finally, I congratulate our clubs that made giant stride in the recent recognition for Rotaract Givings to Rotary Foundation. It came at a perfect time when we all need to give more attention towards donation to Rotary Foundation. Rotaractors should donate a minimum of 10 Dollars ($10) and remember Global Grant application is by the corner, we need to leverage on our cumulative and put our District in the fore front to benefit. I appeal to you again, treat this call with utmost importance.
It’s fascinating to imagine how we will find new ways to adapt and stay nimble this year and beyond. But I am also inspired about what hasn’t changed and never will change in Rotary: the friendships, the networking, the ethics, and the service. ~ Holger Knaack
Those are the values that strenghten our organization and I take this time to charge everyone to apply these values in showing the world – Rotary Opens Opportunities
I welcome you again to the month of August and I wish you the best celebration of the season. Barika de Salah
Regards.
