It was with great excitement that the people of Ijebu Ife received the over 22 medical personnel led by Rotr Adedeji Windapo; the indefatigable District Rotaract Representative, Rotaract District 9110 to give free medical services on the occasion of the Rotary Family Health Days. The Iya Oloja ( Market Leader) of Itawade Market where the project took place expressed her heartfelt appreciation that their community was selected for such an impactful project. The DRR during his address whilst been flanked by Rotr David Odunsi (District Medical Director) and Rotr Jessica Oguntayo ( President, Rotaract Club Of Ijebu Ife) assured the beneficiaries that different medical services had been earmarked to ensure that their medical concerns are taken care of.
In line with the mantra that Rotaract is “Rotary In Action”, the Rotary Family Health Days was no exception as medical and health allied professionals in the organization rose to the occasion energetically to ensure that over 205 persons in Ijebu Ife receive unparalleled medical attention.
It was indeed another occasion to open opportunities for good health in the society as community men, women, young people and children in the community shared their complaints with the medical professionals, who were more than ready to attend to all of their concerns. The free medical program covered important services to include
– Doctors’ consultation
-Dental care
– Hypertension screening
– Blood sugar level screening
– Malaria screening and treatment
– Family planning/counseling
– Sexual and Reproductive Health services
– Distribution of Insecticide Treated Nets
– Deworming of children
– Referrals to specialist centres
– Many more.
The program left in the minds of everyone a sense of fulfillment and a renewed commitment to do more as young professionals in the society especially in the area of health to reduce the high morbidity and mortality rates associated with the average Nigerian society.
