It’s dangerous and definitely suicidal to live without trees because they contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving the air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving the soil, and supporting wildlife.
Tress during the process of photosynthesis, take in carbon dioxide and produce the oxygen we breathe.
Just after Rotary International added to the initial six (6) Areas of Focus, Supporting the Environment making the 7th, the Rotaract District took it as a responsibility to act accordingly by appointing a Director to lead that aspect of service, and Rtr. Rasheedat Abiola with the appointment by the District Rotaract Representative lead other Rotaractors on July 16th to plant trees in the Agege community of Lagos State to mark and celebrate Lagos tree planting day which was July 14th.
The DRR in attendance with Club Presidents and Rotaractors at the Agege Marternity Centre, Pen Cinema celebrated the World Tree Planting day by planting trees at the Agege Marternity Centre.
The project is also scheduled to be carried out in Ogun state on July 25th being the Second state of the Rotaract District.
Being the fact that tress also provide us with the materials for tools and shelter, we must be kind enough to give the space to grow and nurture them.
In attendance were environmental health officers representing the Executive Chairman Agege Local Government and The Medical Officer of Health Maternity Center Agege, Dr Akintayo and Rotarians were not left out as we had the presence of Rotn Henry Akinbobola of Rotary Club of Ajuwon in the company of the Rotary District Committee Chairman for supporting the environment projects, Rotarian Effedi Jellily.
Rtr. Raheem Rashidat and DRR (Adedeji A. Windapo) appreciated all the participants for the time dedicated to support the District.
