Membership extension and engagement is a key part of the plans of Rotary Internation and Rotaract District 9110 Nigeria this Rotary year. It has now become more important than ever that existing Members be engaged while also looking out to bring in more quality members into the family.
The month of August as designated by Rotary International for Membership development is a very important month in the calendar of Rotary and to celebrate that, Rotaract District 9110 Nigeria in partnership with 5 other Rotaract clubs (Rac Maryland, Rac Lagos, Rac Orile Iganmu, Rac Gbagada South and Rac Lagos Mainland) within the district, organized a one-day membership seminar to sensitize Rotaractors on how best they can better serve humanity through Rotary by being a better and well informed Rotaractor.
The Seminar which had 58 physical and 9 online attendees, was held on the 21st of August 2021 at the Bank PHB hall, Rotary center, Ikeja GRA Lagos. The theme of the event was Grow Rotaract, Grow Capacities and Grow Communities. The Event featured two seasoned guest speakers who were able to charge all attendees as required by their respective topic of discussion.
The first speaker, The immediate past District Rotaract Representative, *Rtr. IPDR Adedeji Adeoluwa Windapo phf spoke extensively on the topic “With Elevation comes a new Rotaract”. This topic is of utmost importance as per the new status of Rotaract and it is very important that we start preparing ourselves for the responsibilities that will accomplish this status. He was able to highlight and explain in detail the policies that will take effect come July 1, 2022. He also charged everyone present on taking Rotaract as a serious business. One which if done well with all sense of diligence and humility will not just benefit us as an individual but also the world at large.
The Changemaker president of The Rotary club of Mende Midtown, Rtn Raheem Adebisi phf, discussed with the attendees the “essence of Professional Branding” as the second topic for the day. This session deviated away from the usual Rotary/Rotaract discussion but it is also very necessary as Rotary is very much interested in professional development. He was able to explain what professional branding is and how it can positively affect the growth of our individual businesses. The session was really interesting as the guest speaker was able to communicate and capture the total attention of the attendees.
The Seminar also witnessed the induction of two new Rotaractors into the family and into the Rotaract club of Otta.
Various gift items were given out to the attendees as souvenirs to appreciate them for attending. Umbrellas were given to the early birds, Pen, key holders, and Phone holders were also given to everyone in attendance. The souvenirs were courtesy of Revolution plus Group
Certificates of attendance and partnership were issued to attendees and the club that partnered.
It was indeed a productive timeout as the attendees both online and physical were able to learn, unlearn and relearn
