INTRODUCTION
The second phase of the tree planting project of Rotaract District 9110 kicked off today in tandem with the theme that set the focus for Rotaract District 9110, Nigeria- Save the Environment. Also, the project further enhance image of Rotaract as service impact organization, this time at NSCDC in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
At exactly 11:20am, the District Rotaract Representative Adedeji Windapo signalled the commencement of the exercise; DRR in his opening remark appreciated the NSCDC officials and everyone present.
After a brief introduction, he expressly discussed the importance of the project being carried out as a new area of focus in Rotary.
In attendance was the provost of the National Security and Civil Defense Corps, Commandant Awosusu Rachael ably represented by the deputy commandant Oyinloye John Kayode.
The Deputy commandant in his speech appreciated Rotaractors for extending the hand of humanitarianism to the school. He also expressed his pleasure on realizing the impact that Rotaractors are making in their communities. He broached briefly the effect of trees to the environment.
Shortly after, the District Rotaract Representative Rtr Adedeji Windapo and Deputy Commandant Oyinloye John Kayode planted the first set of trees. Opportunities presidents from Rotaract Club of Obantoko, Tasued, Abeokuta, Ijebu Ode, OGSCOTECH, Ota District board members, club representatives in attendance joined the District Rotaract Representative Adedeji Windapo to partake in the tree planting exercise as a collaborative effort with the District to save the environment.
The committee chairperson, Rtr Raheem Rashidat urged clubs that are yet to carry out the tree-planting project to do so this month of August as reports are expected from various clubs to the district. She also stated that details for the – Save the environment seminar will be communicated at a later date.
She thanked everyone for coming and wished them safe journey to their destination.
