The United Nations reported that about 57 million children worldwide are not in school and 757 million people over the age of 15, two-thirds of whom are women are illiterate.
In honor of the Rotary Basic Education and Literacy month, the Rotaract club of Akowonjo on Monday March 2nd, 2020 embarked on a give a child a notebook project to further corroborate the unflinching interest by Rotary/Rotaract to support quality education.

The pupils of Rauf Aregbesola and Abati primary school in Akowonjo area of Alimosho LGA would have smiles all over their various faces as they jubilantly rush home to their parents with customized exercise books added to their academic collections.
The event which saw in attendance the District Rotaract Representative, club’s past presidents and members of the Rotaract club of Akowonjo wouldn’t have seen a memorable moment without the hearty host of the various head teachers.
Speaking at the event, the District Representative, Rotaractor Constance Jaiyeola advised the pupils to face their studies and be good ambassadors of their families.
Finally, the President of the club, Rotaractor Taiwo Oladosu also advised the pupils to be up and doing while promising them of more goodies the next time the club visits.
