PROJECT TO PROTECT PREGNANT WOMEN AND NURSING MOTHERS
Something About Mosquito Bite;
These tricky little pests can have a big impact on the health of a pregnancy and it is important to avoid areas that have mosquitos carrying Zika Virus.
Zika virus has been associated with severe birth defects when infection occurs during pregnancy.
So we are to try and avoid areas with known transmission from mosquitos to humans. BUT we Rotaractors from Lagos West Area of Rotaract District 9110 know this isn’t so possible and was our reason to embark on a project to protect the pregnant women and nursing mothers by donating Mosquito nets to 20 of them and 20 packs of diapers for their babies as they arrive safely when due.
It was a well spent Saturday morning at the Rauf Aregbesola Hospital, Egbeda
It was an interactive session with them as the Nurse in charge started with them on healthy tips to safe delivery, while Rtr. Aiebee-Iberedem and Abiodun Ajayi Mandate had a session with them as they both speak respectively on _what Rotaract is about and what they do and tips/why family planning is important to every family.
The session ended with an exciting vote of thanks from one of the nurses appreciating Rotaract for the thoughtful exercise and praying for more ability to do more as the returns will be bountiful.
Special thanks to all who made it today, especially all clubs under Lagos West Area. Your support was amazing and highly appreciated.
Yours in Service
