DISTRICT 9110 GREAT TREK

ROTARACT DISTRICT 9110 TREK TO SENSITIZE AGAINST DRUG ABUSE, SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND GENDER BASE VIOLENCE.

Social vices are becoming worrying issues in the society due to incessant spread amongst the youth. Developing nation like Nigeria needs to protect the future of its youth from these vices through concerted effort of both government and private organization.

In reaction the effect of these malaise ravaging the prospects and potentials of the youth, Rotaract District 9110-comprises of young professionals from Lagos and Ogun state- led by the 36th District Rotaract Representative Constance Jaiyeola embarked on awareness trek in Itori town of Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The trek tagged: ROTARACT CONNECTING TO END SEXUAL VIOLENCE is aimed to sensitize the residents of Itori town against gender base violence and sexual harassment. The exercise kicked off at Hallmark Hotel taken through the major road axis of the town and a stop over at the palace of the king, Olu of Itori who recognised the presence of the Rotaract members despite his absence due to an impromptu but very important commitment.

The last lap of the two hours awareness trek ended at the premises of Itori Police station. At the Police station, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) shared a concise address speech on gender issues and community security.

DRR Constance Jaiyeola tasked the Police Force to ensure peace building as key focus of Rotary International.
